Preserving Family Vacation Memories with Acrylic Facemounted Photos

“For my thirtieth birthday, I didn’t want to do a big party. I really just wanted to travel with my family.” One of Kylee’s favorite pastimes is traveling and he’s traveled across forty countries, including South Africa. As a gift to his family for his own birthday, they took a trip to South Africa. A party of ten, including both his mom and dad’s side stayed for two days in London before journeying for twelve days in Cape Town and Johannesburg. “I thought it would be great if I could take them to Africa and give them a chance to experience one of my favorite places.”

Their tour guide took many photos of the family together. After Kylee returned home, he wanted to feature the memories captured in photos from each of the cities that they traveled to. He created an album and shared it with his family, asking them to choose their favorites. His family’s top three picks, in addition to his personal favorite, became the images he would turn into wall art.

His favorite photo? A family portrait captured opposite the waterfront of Cape Town in Bloubergstrand at sunset. The image memorializes he and his family after a day of celebrating and features the locally famous Table Mountain in the distant background. “It was on my birthday, everyone dressed up, we went through the winelands. We had a really good time. Then we stopped at the end of the day at Bloubergstrand and that’s the view out there. Everyone just took in the moment and it was really emotional for the family.”
